Cummings, who has courteously allowed me to copy it and to include it in the present volume. Mr. Cummings also possesses many pipes of Bernard Smith's manufacture—portions of two stops, one metal and the other wood—removed probably from the “Chayre Organ” by the late Mr. Bishop, the organ builder, during the progress of some alterations effected by him in the Cathedral organ. See Musical Times, March 1, 1880, pp. 121, 122; and Hopkins and Rimbanlt's History of the Organ (edition 1870), pp. 109–112, and 450, 451. At the latter reference it is stated that in 1849 Mr. Bishop substituted a Viol da Gamba for the metal Flute in the Choir Organ, and a Clarabella for the Stopped Diapason; the two stops then removed are, I suppose, those now in Mr. Cummings' possession.
