Septohippocampal comparator: Consciousness generator or attention feedback loop?
Published online by Cambridge University Press: 04 February 2010
Abstract
As Gray insists, his comparator model proposes a brute correlation only – of consciousness with septohippocampal output. I suggest that the comparator straddles a feedback loop that boosts the activation of novel representations, thus helping them feature in present or recollected experience. Such a role in organizing conscious contents would transcend correlation and help explain how consciousness emerges from brain function.
