1. Photographs are still seen as a specialist and often optional area in the training of archivists. The Visual Archives Committee of ARLIS/UK & Ireland have run oversubscribed courses on ‘Managing photographic collections’ and there are various other courses available but this area has no specialist interest group in Britain through ARLIS or the Society of Archivists.
