Seventh-order hybrid cell-edge and cell-node dissipative compact scheme (HDCS-E8T7) is extended to a new implicit large eddy simulation named HILES on stretched and curvilinear meshes. Although the conception of HILES is similar to that of monotone integrated LES (MILES), i.e., truncation error of the discretization scheme itself is employed to model the effects of unresolved scales, HDCS-E8T7 is a new high-order finite difference scheme, which can eliminate the surface conservation law (SCL) errors and has inherent dissipation. The capability of HILES is tested by solving several benchmark cases. In the case of flow past a circular cylinder, the solutions of HILES fulfilling the SCL have good agreement with the corresponding experiment data, however, the flowfield is gradually contaminated when the SCL error is enlarged. With the help of fulling the SCL, ability of HILES for handling complex geometry has been enhanced. The numerical solutions of flow over delta wing demonstrate the potential of HILES in simulating turbulent flow on complex configuration.

The local RBFs based collocation methods (LRBFCM) is presented to solve two-dimensional incompressible Navier-Stokes equations. In avoiding the ill-conditioned problem, the weight coefficients of linear combination with respect to the function values and its derivatives can be obtained by solving low-order linear systems within local supporting domain. Then, we reformulate local matrix in the global and sparse matrix. The obtained large sparse linear systems can be directly solved instead of using more complicated iterative method. The numerical experiments have shown that the developed LRBFCM is suitable for solving the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations with high accuracy and efficiency.

Frame theory, which contains wavelet analysis and Gabor analysis, has become a powerful tool for many applications of mathematics, engineering and quantum mechanics. The study of extension principles of Bessel sequences to frames is important in frame theory. This paper studies transformations on Bessel sequences to generate frames and Riesz bases in terms of operators and scalability. Some characterizations of operators that mapping Bessel sequences to frames and Riesz bases are given. We introduce the definitions of F-scalable and P-scalable Bessel sequences. F-scalability and P-scalability of Bessel sequences are discussed in this paper, then characterizations of scalings of F-scalable or P-scalable Bessel sequences are established. Finally, a perturbation result on F-scalable Bessel sequences is derived.

In this paper, an optimal bicubic finite volume method is established and analyzed for elliptic equations on quadrilateral meshes. Base on the so-called elementwise stiffness matrix analysis technique, we proceed the stability analysis. It is proved that the new scheme has optimal convergence rate in H1 norm. Additionally, we apply this analysis technique to bilinear finite volume method. Finally, numerical examples are provided to confirm the theoretical analysis of bicubic finite volume method.

In this paper, we are devoted to nonlinear stability and B-convergence of additive Runge-Kutta (ARK) methods for nonlinear stiff problems with multiple stiffness. The concept of -algebraic stability of ARK methods for a class of stiff problems Kστ is introduced, and it is proven that this stability implies some contractive properties of the ARK methods. Some results on optimal B-convergence of ARK methods for Kσ,0 are given. These new results extend the existing ones of RK methods and ARK methods in the references. Numerical examples test the correctness of our theoretical analysis.

A novel meshless scheme is proposed for inverse source identification problems of Helmholtz-type equations. It is formulated by the non-singular general solutions of the Helmholtz-type equations augmented with radial basis functions. Under this meshless scheme, we can determine smooth source terms from partially accessible boundary measurements with accurate results. Numerical examples are presented to verify validity and accuracy of the present scheme. It is demonstrated that the present scheme is simple, accurate, stable and computationally efficient for inverse smooth source identification problems.

In this paper, we consider a fully discrete local discontinuous Galerkin (LDG) finite element method for a time-fractional Korteweg-de Vries (KdV) equation. The method is based on a finite difference scheme in time and local discontinuous Galerkin methods in space. We show that our scheme is unconditionally stable and convergent through analysis. Numerical examples are shown to illustrate the efficiency and accuracy of our scheme.

A new mathematical model of magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) theory has been constructed in the context of a new consideration of heat conduction with a time-fractional derivative of order 0 < α ≤ 1 and a time-fractional integral of order 0 < γ ≤ 2. This model is applied to one-dimensional problems for a thermoelectric viscoelastic fluid flow in the absence or presence of heat sources. Laplace transforms and state-space techniques will be used to obtain the general solution for any set of boundary conditions. According to the numerical results and its graphs, conclusion about the new theory has been constructed. Some comparisons have been shown in figures to estimate the effects of the fractional order parameters on all the studied fields.
