Summary

There are currently several books which either entirely deal with “Name Reactions in Organic Chemistry” or have this subject as a major portion in texts on organic chemistry. Thus, there should be a special reason for writing another book on the subject. From the contents, it appears that Professors A.R. Parikh and H. Parikh wish to emphasise the importance of name reactions in organic synthesis.

A characteristic feature of the book is that it has its roots firmly in facts which form the basis for the study of reaction mechanisms in organic chemistry. The book provides excellent material for lecture courses for graduate and postgraduate students and others with scientific interests, especially the industrial scientists.

The book is clearly written, logically organized and provides senior graduate students and industrial scientists with the advanced and sound organic foundation necessary to understand modern ways of learning and apply the knowledge for academic use or serve as a reference source for practising chemists in industry.
