Summary
The following lists all printed English-language science-fiction magazines and series anthologies covered by this volume together with issue and editorial details. It also covers many associational fantasy and weird fiction titles including many small-press and a few online magazines. It excludes magazines that concentrate solely on horror or macabre fiction and those which are totally non-fiction.
Titles are listed in alphabetical order. Individual issues are listed for each year together with a cumulative total at the end of each column. This total relates to specific physical issues and not the issue number itself, where double issues are often counted as two. The cumulative total continues from those detailed in The Time Machines, Transformations and Gateways to Forever. Details shown are those displayed on the cover, which is usually the cover date, but may sometimes be the issue number. The latter is always shown for combined issues in order to avoid confusion. The list continues from the previous volumes and thus starts in January 1981, though first issues are shown if the magazine commenced in 1980. The cut-off date for this volume is December 1990, though magazines that folded in 1991 are shown to their final issue.
Months are abbreviated to their first three characters except for weekly or four-weekly issues where they are abbreviated as follows: Ja, January; Fb, February; Mr, March; Ap, April; My, May; Jn, June; Jl, July; Ag, August; Sp, September; Oc, October; Nv, November; Dc, December. Seasonal dates are shown as Spr (Spring), Sum (Summer), Aut or Fal (Autumn or Fall), Win (Winter). Seasonal issues and undated issues are shown in the column corresponding to the month of sale. Combined months are shown as Jan/ Feb, etc. Dates or numbers for print magazines are shown in roman type but those for online magazines are shown in italics, e.g. Jan.
Websites are listed where possible but some are now only accessible via the Internet Archives at http://archive.org/web/web.php.
If an issue date or number is followed by a semicolon it means the magazine was suspended. If it is followed by a full stop then the magazine has ceased publication.
Reprint editions are not listed unless their contents vary significantly. All magazines are published in the United States unless otherwise noted.
