Summary
The Pocket Guide for Cutaneous Medicine and Surgery, written by Joshua E. Lane, M.D., and collaborators from the Medical College of Georgia and Mercer University Schools of Medicine, is a wonderful addition to the dermatology literature. In addition to detailing all the knowledge required of a resident during that period, Dr. Lane took copious notes and gives countless pearls, factoids, and other useful information acquired during his dermatology residency. With guidance from his faculty at the Medical College of Georgia and his practice colleagues at Mercer University, he has created a compendium that should be invaluable to young dermatologists-in-training. There is also a great deal of information contained in this useful handbook that will be of value to practicing dermatologists as well as to trainees and practitioners in primary care disciplines. Dr. Lane has created a book that we had perhaps all wished that we had taken the time and made the effort to create for ourselves. I compliment Dr. Lane and his colleagues on this fine effort.
