Summary
Giambattista Vico was undoubtedly one of the most intriguing thinkers of modern times, despite perhaps being too fierce a critic of the fashionable philosophies of his time to be held in high regard by his contemporaries. In an era dominated by worship at the high altar of reason, he emphasized the pivotal role of the senses and the imagination, in brave opposition to Descartes and his acolytes.
