Summary
For centuries, surgery and medicine existed in overlapping but different professional spheres, but of course, in modern medicine, this is no longer the case. Thus, surgery and surgical interventions are generally governed by the same ethical norms that govern most medical practice. However, how those norms are applied and balanced often differ between standard medical and surgical care.
