Summary
Much has been written lately about the interaction of intellectual property (IP) with technical standards. Generally, commentators look at the interaction from the perspective of one particular field of IP, especially patents. However, the same standard that includes patented technologies may also be copyrighted and trademarked. Therefore, only a holistic approach that shows the various problems and solutions concerning the acquisition and use of the different facets of standard-related intellectual property can comparatively explain how that interaction works.
