Summary
Die verteilung der geschäfte auf die vier volksversammlungen, die es zu Aristoteles zeit gab, lässt deutlich erkennen, dass die solonische ordnung nur eine regelmässige, die ϰμϱία, gekannt hat. wie viel es damals im jahre waren, ist unbekannt, weil wir das analogon der prytanien nicht kennen. seit Kleisthenes waren es zehn. zehnmal also kam die souveräne bürgerschaft zusammen, beststigte ihre beamten, wenn sie mit ihnen zufrieden war, beriet die für die verpflegung und die sicherheit des landes zu treffenden massregeln, nahm die denuntiationen über hochverrat und sonstige majestätsverbrechen entgegen, liess sich ilber die veränderungen im besitzstande ihrer mitglieder unterrichten, welche grundstücke durch confiscation dem souverän zugefallen waren, welche durch todesfälle vacant geworden des rechtmässigen erben harrten und entschied schliesslich tiber denuntiationen gegen bürger, die das vertrauen des souveräns verwirkt oder getäuscht hatten (43, 4–5). damit ist erschöpft, was der souverän regelmässig zu erledigen hat. hinzukommt die versammlung für die wahlen, für die dem rate ein terminus ante quem non in der siebenten prytanie gesetzt ist; das nähere steht bei diesem, weil ein günstiger tag für dieses wichtige geschäft gewählt werden muss (44, 4). es hat ferner jeder bürger das recht, vor die gesammtheit zu bringen, was er auf dem herzen hat; doch ist dafür die form beliebt, dass er als bittflehender das gesuch stellt. diesem muss innerhalb jeder prytanie einmal folge gegeben und dafür eine besondere versammlung berufen werden, nattürlich vom rate, der die gesuche also gesammelt haben muss.
