Summary
Ich habe nichts besonderes zu sagen, aber ich kann mich nicht entbalten, diese rede zu erläutern, aus der ich mehrfach für Aristoteles facta ausheben musste. die reden sind wirklich damit nicht erschöpft, dass man an ihnen die secundanergrammatik ubt oder die sophistische rhetorik erläutert.
Die rede ist gehalten 386 in den ersten monaten, während über den Antalkidasfrieden in Sparta verhandelt ward, aber die entscheidung noch nicht gefallen war.) der rat, der in ihr als kläger auftritt, ist der, welcher jene schmach auf Athen geladen hat, im frübjahr 387 von den demen praesentirt, und der wert, den die rede für die zeitgeschichte hat, liegt darin, dass wir sehen, wie die teuerung, die dem attischen städter viel mehr als dem bauern, den hohe getreidepreise nicht drücken, empfindlich war, die widerstandskraft gelähmt hat, obwol nach dem sturze des Thrasybulos gerade die radicalen oben auf waren. einer von ihnen begegnet uns hier: sie haben in kürzester frist das staatsschiff zum stranden gebracht.
Der rechtshandel ist folgendermassen verlaufen. es gieng beim rate eine denuntiation (ἔνδειζις) wider eine gilde (ein ϰоινό) von getreidehändlern ein, dahin gehend, dass diese grössere bestände von korn als die vom gesetze erlaubten 50 trachten (ϕоϱμоί) auf einmal gekauft hätten. als die prytanen die sache vor das plenum brachlen, fanden sich einige heisssporne, die das todeswürdige vergehn für manifest hielten und die angeklagten ohne weiteres den elf zur hinrichtung übergeben wollten.
